Risk Management
Risk controlling of the segment Asset Management Immobilien (AMI) of Deka Immobilien GmbH has been integrated and is being adjusted continuously to general requirements and internal information.
Activities of risk controlling relate mainly to the identification, assessment, controlling and supervision of all types of risks of the real estate funds of Deka Immobilien Investment GmbH and WestInvest Gesellschaft für Investmentfonds mbH.
Types of risk are determined with the help of Section 80 b of the German Investment Law. Mainly they are risks of counterparty credit, risks of changes in interest rates, currency as well as other market price risks, operational risks and liquidity risks. Reporting is done in quarterly risk reports per special asset which respond to the various risks on the basis of differentiated methods. Additionally ad-hoc reporting has been established in order to facilitate swift and efficient description and reporting of important parameters at high frequency in current market phases. This reporting is not limited to the relevant entities but has been extended to the operating units. This focuses on the identification of possible, known or foreseeable individual risks. Risk reporting contains additionally a complex set of stress scenarios which expose the conservatively designed future to individual shocks or a combination of shocks and which measure their effects on the fund performance. It is our aim to establish and continuously improve uniform risk awareness and an appropriate risk culture within the segments of the group. Suggestions for handling risks complete the total picture.
Next to mere risk control activities, risk management activities are performed which influence ongoing critical processes and which eliminate or lower risks in the forefront of the relevant decision making process. Additionally, general processes within the group structure are screened for possible risks and, if necessary, suggestions for improvement are worked out.
Risk Control performs a particular role also within emergency plans, where emergency situations can be managed efficiently on the basis of the available risk information. Especially in these situations, the established system has proven itself. Part of this system is particularly the specialist know-how of the relevant contact persons of the interdisciplinary teams.
