Deka Immobilien extends lease with Sanoma in Helsinki
Deka Immobilien has agreed a significant early lease extension with Sanoma Media Finland Oy, Finland’s leading media company, for the “Töölönlahdenkatu 2” office property in Helsinki, known as “Sanoma House”. The company is part of the media and learning group Sanoma. The lease for around 14,180 sqm runs until 28 February 2029 and will be extended by a further seven years. In addition, there are two extension options of 24 months each.
Sanoma’s headquarters are located at Töölönlahdenkatu 2. The building is also home to the editorial teams of Helsingin Sanomat and Ilta-Sanomat as well as Nelonen Media, the entertainment division of Sanoma Media Finland.
By agreeing this early lease extension with Sanoma, one of our key tenants, we are creating long-term planning certainty for the property and strengthening the income stability of our real estate portfolio.

Built in 1999, the property is certified BREEAM “Excellent”. Around 14,000 sqm of workspace was redesigned between 2021 and 2025 to accommodate flexible and hybrid ways of working. The nine-storey office and retail complex, with its distinctive glass architecture, occupies a central location next to Helsinki Central Station and benefits from excellent transport links. The building also offers tenants a range of amenities, including a gym and sauna.
Deka Immobilien acquired the property from Sanoma in 2014. As part of the transaction, the company remained in the building as a long-term tenant. At the time, the acquisition ranked among the largest office property transactions in Helsinki’s central business district.
