DGNB Platinum for Sustainable Logistics Hall

Awards | 2024-01-15

Deka Immobilien's commitment is continuously working on measures for a more sustainable future, as well as innovative solutions for optimizing its real estate projects. The Hall A in the Laatzen logistics park has now been awarded the DGNB Platinum certificate, the highest accolade from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). Only three industrial real estate projects in Germany have received this prestigious plaque to date.

In the summer of 2023, Deka Immobilien expanded its high-quality logistics portfolio by acquiring 50% of five logistics parks from VGP N.V. As part of this joint venture, which is part of the Deka-Immobilien Europa open real estate mutual fund, the Laatzen logistics park is included.

Covering an impressive 55,400 sqm, Hall A boasts outstanding ecological and economic qualities, meeting 100% of the requirements for eco-balance and biodiversity. Measures such as a rainwater retention basin and a photovoltaic system with over 3,624 kilowatt-peak ensure a gentle approach to resources and maximum energy efficiency. The generated energy is not only used for sustainable building management but also powers 20 charging stations for electric vehicles – with further expansion plans for the future.

The evaluation also takes into account socio-cultural and functional aspects. Attractive outdoor break areas, an employee restaurant, and special facilities for cyclists contribute to the project's high quality. The property is fully leased to KraussMaffei, a leading global manufacturer of machinery and equipment for the production of plastic and rubber.

The Laatzen logistics park, with a total of 139,845 sqm of leasable space, is fully occupied. Conveniently located near the A7 highway, it is just about 20 minutes by car from Hanover.
